We understand that sales problems sometimes occur. At these times, customers request returns and receive refunds on hardware, software, or both.
Because of this, we allow our authorized resellers to request that refunded license keys — keys sold and assigned to one of the reseller's customers and then returned — be destroyed and recycled.
What is License Key Recycling
When a reseller requests a license key recycle, LightBurn will revoke and destroy the license key.
This means that all activations on the license key will be removed, and the user assigned to that key by the reseller will lose access to LightBurn software.
Important: We expect resellers to inform their customers that the license key will be destroyed after the refund is issued, and they will lose access to LightBurn software.
LightBurn Support is not responsible for assisting customers with refunded or recycled licenses. All inquiries relating to recycled keys will be redirected to the reseller.
As a follow-up step, a new license key will be minted and assigned to the reseller account. This key will be in an unactivated status, so that it can be sold to an end customer with the standard 12 months of free updates.
Important: The license key recycling process cannot be undone. Once a key is destroyed for recycling, no data can be recovered. This includes activations, emails, and customer names.
How to Request a License Key Recycle
- The request must be made in writing to our support email (Support@LightBurnSoftware.com), and preferably in bulk. Please refrain from requesting single license recycles and opt for monthly or quarterly requests.
- The license key list should be provided in table form and include the following mandatory information.
- License Key
- License Type (Core/Pro/MillMage)
- Date of Sale
- Customer Name
- Customer Email
- Recycle Reason
Feel free to use the table below as a template:
| License Key | License Type | Date of Sale | Name | Recycle Reason | |
Key Recycle Process
We strive to respond quickly to license key recycle requests. Once we receive your request, we will try to respond with a new list of keys within 48 hours.
Depending on the number of license keys requested, the list may be sent in text form (grouped by type) or in table form.
Important: Please confirm the keys received and validate that the process has been completed as requested.
Important Disclaimers and Caveats
LightBurn reserves the full discretion to approve, deny, or request additional information about a recycle request.
We closely monitor our partners and resellers and expect them to meet the high standards of customer support and after-sales care outlined in the reseller agreement signed by both parties. In the case of a dispute, it is LightBurn's sole discretion to side with the end consumer and provide the customer with the key at the reseller's expense.
We expect our resellers to respond appropriately to all refund requests and not direct customers to LightBurn Support. We have sole discretion to terminate the reseller agreement if end consumers are not receiving adequate support.
License key recycling is expected to be an exception and not a tool for regular use. Therefore, it is our sole discretion to deny requests from resellers who abuse the key recycling process.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the license key recycling process, please contact us at Support@LightBurnSoftware.com.
